In fairly good condition, this velvety pile, short-clipped arcade pattern carpet shows two candy-cane striped pillars with fluted capitals upholding rounded arches with navy palmette spandrels. Beneath is a well-drawn palmette, iris, leaf and complex rosette pattern on an old ivory ground. Navy border with fat meandering vine with side kinks. Fine weave, cotton foundation, asymmetric knots, central Persian town origin, probably in the famous “Mohtasham” workshop..
