Antique Shrivan Caucasian Rug
This is a small-scale version of the famous “Karagashli” design, here with two conjoint stepped, hexagonal red medallions with straw centres, on a rich royal blue indigo ground with hooked secondary elements. Ivory border of floating colourful rosettes and triangular fillers. This pattern often appears on long rugs and has been used, with Variations by both northern Kuba and southern Shirvan weavers. Good condition. moderate weave, wool warps, with one plainwoven end intact.
