From the desirable “Hajji Jalili” period in NW Persian Tabriz weaving, the attractively abrashed madder red ground features a basal vase on tray expelling an abundance of palmette and rosette accented stems. The niche design shows navy spandrels with dense small floret patterns and the dark blue inner border presents a Turkish Ghiordes design of lotus palmettes alternating with rosettes. The rust-red main border is especially interesting, with long, thin, looped barbed ivory leaves forming squat open lappets enclosing medium blue half rosette octogrammes. A very engaging large scatter in good condition from what is probably the best period of Tabriz weaving. .
