Looks like a manuscript illumination rather than a very short pile scatter for a traditional room. From NW Turkey near Istanbul. Cream field with a layered, nested lobed concentric round medallion accented in salmon-yellow, blood red and pale blue, outlines in black. Cartouches and recurved leaves in the corners. Blood-red border with navy and ivory winged reversing palmettes. Extremely finely knotted, silk warp, very short-clipped pile. Extra pile strip at each end finish for opulent effect. .
