Product Details

This east Caucasian village long rug displays a vertical section of the popular Persian Harshang (Crab) pattern with ragged palmettes, cogwheel rosette, “Gooseneck” ivory short arabesques and radiating nine flower module. The pattern continues out under the borders in all four directions and appears on larger gallery format (kellegi) pieces. The navy indigo field is the classic ground for this pattern, where it looks its best. Red border with ivory “Kufic” pattern developed from Islamic calligraphy. Wool warp, natural dyes, relatively finely knotted. Red, ivory and teal details. Good condition..
