Yezd is 200 miles NW of Kerman, but is still under the influence as indicated here by this royal blue indigo ground stepped and lobed top niche scatter with a central rockery-based amphora type vase carrying a “tree-of-life” with an oval flowering crown, and set between flanking short, medium and tall trees, the latter forming an arch at the top, and with small lateral cypresses which reappear in the cochineal; red border along with weeping willows and flowering prunus shrubs. Cochineal red spandrels. Yezd rugs are more insistent in their colour schemes than comparable Kermans. Good condition, with a medium-fine weave on a cotton foundation..
