Thirteen compact alternating position rows of botehs turn the off white field into a lattice. The densely placed cones are accented in yellow and cerulean blue. This SE Persian tribal scatter has an ivory border with tiny botehs and unusual corner squares. Early Afshar rugs display large, well-separated semi-curvilinear botehs, but more recent pieces, as here, compress, geometrify and pack them in. A whole new effect emerges.
