The western Persian town of Malayer is the centre of a group of several dozen villages weaving mostly scatters and long rugs with, as here, rustic versions of urban designs. The sandy straw field is defined by three serrated-fringed lozenge medallions in an almost pole medallion layout while stepped triangle chains in rust, buff and straw point in from the field sides. Navy small-flower corners and a sandy straw main border of thin leaves and small stemmed flowers completes the design of this cotton foundation piece in good condition. .
